Asheville, NC, Feb 23, 2016, 12:48pm: Three jobs are lined up ready to roll on adjacent tracks on the hump at Norfolk Southern Railway’s Asheville yard on another cold, dark, and rainy winter day. On the right is EMD SD60I NS 6759 at the front of train 745, an empty coal train headed to Bull’s Gap, Tennessee, then on to the Appalachian coal mines. In the middle is EMD SD40-2 WAMX 4204 (under a SD-45 body) at the front of Blue Ridge Southern Railroad’s train T31 as it gets ready to roll on the return trip of its daily Canton-Asheville-Canton run. On the left is yard job and local PA01 mother-slug set consisting of EMD SD40-2 NS 3094 and cab slug RP-E4C NS 722. |

BLU train 33 parked |
| Description: |
Asheville, NC, April 25, 2016, 8:47am: Watco Company’s Blue Ridge Southern (BLU) train T33 is shut down in front of the west end tower at Norfolk Southern Railroad’s Asheville yard. T33 is the night train that makes the Canton-Asheville-Canton run, but is parked this morning after running out of crew time while waiting for clearance to leave Asheville for the return to Canton. WAMX 4203, 4202, and 4204, EMD SD40-2s in SD45 car bodies, is waiting for a crew from BLU’s main office in Canton, about 20 miles west of Asheville. Just to the east of BLU's locomotives is the NS yard unit. |

Asheville, North Carolina, January 16, 2017, 12:54pm: EMD SD40-2 WAMX 4201 (wearing a SD45 body) leads Watco Company’s Blue Ridge Southern Railroad train T31 by the Lady on an Anchor as it enters the Norfolk Southern yard in Asheville. This is the end of the first leg of T31’s daily Canton-Asheville-Canton run. BLU is based in Canton 20 miles west of Asheville, and the same power will be used to run the nightly T33 train. |
