NS 4610         
EMD GP59 NS 4610, the first Norfolk Southern heritage locomotive, is parked at the Hendersonville, NC, Southern depot during an open house of the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club, which now occupies the depot. 4610 was built by the Electromotive Division of General Motors for the Southern Railway in November, 1989. It was painted as a heritage unit in April, 1994. It was repainted in January, 2012, in the black and white current “Horsehead” scheme as an Operation Lifesaver unit.
